If you’re interested in participating in one of the paid seminars, you’ll need to register in advance. All seminar sign ups are handled at the Breyer table. Seminar fees may be paid by cash or card.

Please note that only entrants and judges will be allowed in the show area. Spectators welcome in the viewing area.

9am-5:30pm | A Good Vintage Live III: Vintage Custom Showcase

A special show just for vintage custom model horses hosted by legendary model horse artist Sarah Minkiewicz-Breunig. Winners chosen by popular vote. Details.

9am-5:30pm Model Signing with Sarah Minkiewicz-Breunig

Come get your Croi Damsha and Imperador models signed by their sculptor!

9am-6pm Stablemate Painting – free

Paint your own Breyer stablemate! Fun for all ages.

9am-7pm Hobby Demonstrator Morgen Kilbourn

Breyer sculptor Morgen Kilbourn will be working on a new sculpture and answering questions about her process. Bring your Wyatt and Bobbi Jo models to get signed!

9am-7pm Hobby Ambassador Cheryl Wood

Longtime hobbyist Cheryl Wood will be answering questions about all aspects of the model horse hobby including showing, collecting, and more.

9:30am-12pm Workshop: Sculpting the Equine Head with Maggie Bennett – $30

This class is for intermediate to advanced customizers interested in learning about the anatomy of the equine head and how that translates into your sculpture. Each participant will get to practice their sculpting on a 1:6 scale armature. Epoxy and basic tools provided.

10am Seminar for Youth/Novice Show Entrants: How to Show Model Horses – free

For entrants in the Youth/Novice Show. Learn how to show model horses, choose breeds for your models, and create realistic performance setups. Led by experienced model horse shower and Youth/Novice Show Steward Leah Koerper. Leah will be available for the duration of the show to answer questions and guide new showers.

The show starts with OF Halter and Custom Halter divisions. Performance division will start after Custom Halter.

12pm-7pm Hobby Demonstrator Maggie Bennett

Micro mini maven Maggie Bennett will be exhibiting her sculptures and answering questions about casting resins at home. Look for Maggie’s first Breyer sculpture in the 2017 Stablemate’s Club!

1pm-3:30pm Workshop: White Patterns: Design and Application with Lesli Kathman – $30

Equine color genetics expert Lesli Kathman will discuss the intricacies of pattern design. Participants will get a Classic scale Breyer to design and paint. Open to all levels of customizers; recommended for ages 12 and up.

4pm-5:30pm Workshop: Suncatcher Stablemates with Lauren Hoeffer – $30

Join customizer Lauren Hoeffer to make your own translucent suncatcher stablemate. All ages and skill levels.

9:30am-12pm Workshop: Customizing Basics with Stacy Quick and Bethany Shaw – $30

Join avid customizers Stacy Quick and Bethany Shaw for an informative introduction to customizing Breyer models. Learn simple repositioning and resculpting and make a totally original model! Breyer model and sculpting supplies provided. Beginners welcome; recommended for ages 12 and up (this workshop includes using small power tools).

10am-12pm Seminar: Photo Showing with Traci Durrell Khalife – free

Frequent Just About Horses contributor Traci Durrell-Khalife will introduce the wonderful world of photo showing. Learn to set up and take realistic photos of your models in halter and performance, and how to exhibit your models through snail mail and online shows.

1-2pm Seminar: Color Genetics: Ten Tips for Painting More Realistic Models with Lesli Kathman – free

Equine color genetics expert Lesli Kathman presents on the importance of realism in model horse painting. Please note: this seminar takes place in the Conference Room, not in the Trade Show area with the rest of BreyerWest. Map.

2:15-4:30pm: Proper Props with Sandy Lyles-Sanderson – $30

Veteran performance shower Sandy Lyles-Sanderson will talk about the importance of realism and scale in model horse showing. Participants will get to make their own Traditional scale barrel or a set of poles.
